Garret Lang completed his BFA in Music Performance at the New School in New York City, in 2010. After completing his degree, the next few years were spent playing NYC’s jazz clubs, after which he relocated to Los Angeles to work as a studio musician and audio engineer. In 2014, Garret joined NPR’s Marketplace, and has since gone on to record and mix podcasts and radio for KCRW (Don’t @ Me) and ESPN (ESPNDaily), and Crooked Media. Garret has performed and recorded with a wide array of artists such as Matt Berninger, Tootie Heath, Lisa Loeb, Jay Bellarose, Joe Henry, Johanna Samuels, Hannah Cohen, Henry Wolf, and Samantha Sidley. He’s played live with various bands at New Orleans Jazz Fest, Arroyo Seco Festival, SFJazz Fest, and at SXSW, and is currently finishing an album he produced with former Emerson Star bandmate Shannon Inoye (coming 2022). Garret also manages the recording studio Knobworld, in Echo Park, California.
